Parish Life

“We, though many, are one body in Christ and individually members one of another” Romans 12:5

The Christian faith is meant to be communal. We grow to know and love God better by knowing and loving other people. Church life extends beyond the sanctuary and the classroom, to include special times of fellowship and fun. Gathering together to share stories, meals, and activities, Christians learn from each other and develop the kind of deep relationships that add meaning and color to life.

Here at Saint Paul’s we enjoy a variety of social activities throughout the course of the year. These programs help us to get to know one another better and to unite in the common joy of living out the Christian faith

Coffee Hours: These special times of food and fellowship are usually held twice a month, on the second and fourth Sundays of the month after the worship service. Church members take turns hosting these receptions. Pheny Aldis’ Asian delights make an appearance nearly every month and are a special treat for all.

Benefit Suppers: Special suppers are hosted periodically to help raise funds for important charitable programs. One annual event is a Pig Roast held during Sharpsburg Heritage Days in September. This year’s Pig Roast proceeds will be donated to our local fire and rescue squads.

Seasonal Receptions: Special dinners are held as a way to mark the seasons of the Church year. A pancake supper is held just before the start of Lent on Shrove Tuesday, one last day of celebration before the beginning of the fast. The Lessons and Carols Service the Sunday after Christmas is preceded by an Eggs Benedict Breakfast. Lammastide, a summer harvest festival, is marked by a Parish Picnic.

Parish Ministries and Groups

Several different groups and ministries are part of the life of Saint Paul’s. These seek to unite people to help support the worship of God and the service of others in the world. They also offer opportunities to develop deep friendships that provide mutual support in living out the faith. To learn more about some of these groups, see the pages below
