Study and Retreat

Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest awhile” Mark 6:31

Growth in the Christian life comes primarily through the discipline of regular prayer and study.  Special opportunities for learning, silence and refreshment, though, can sometimes allow us to meet with God in powerful ways and can be deeply inspiring.  These “mountaintop” experiences can renew us for the challenge of everyday life, as can the discipline of meeting regularly with a confessor or spiritual director for guidance and support. This space will serve as a “bulletin board” for information about study and retreat opportunities and will be regularly updated as new opportunities arise.

All Saints Convent: This traditional Anglican community for women provides opportunities for spiritual direction, retreats and study days at their convent located in a beautiful state forest near Baltimore.  Women may make private retreats and men and women alike are welcome to join in the activities of their annual program.  All are also welcome to their daily services.

Bishop Claggett Center: The Bishop Claggett center is our diocesan camping and conference center.  Located on recently renovated premises near Frederick, the center sponsors a variety of programs throughout the year, often focused on the spiritual questions and needs of different groups of people.  Upcoming programs include special retreats for young people, women and men.    For more information, visit the Bishop Claggett Center website: http://www.bishopclaggett.org/.
